"Everybody's Got the Right (Reprise)" from Assassins
August 15, 2009, Jamesport Meeting House

Management Productions

In late 2008, I was talking with my good friend Tim Ferris about opportunities for young actors on the North Fork of Long Island. Besides school plays and the NFCT Youth on Stage program, there wasn't that much. There wasn't even anything for students who wanted to go beyond acting and stage management. We had been bugging our drama teacher about doing either the Stephen Sondheim musical Sweeney Todd or his lesser known musical Assassins. Unsurprisingly, we did Les Miserables instead. But this got us thinking: what was preventing us from putting on one of those shows ourselves? And thus, Management Productions was born.

With friends from high school and summer community theater, we cast the show ourselves. The pit musicians, the crew, and all of the behind the scenes people were all under the age of 25, with the youngest being 9. We performed at the historic Jamesport Meeting House and had three nights of sold out audiences.

In 2009, we followed with Glengarry Glen Ross and The Who's Tommy. Other productions have included The Book of Liz and All in the Timing, as well as various variety shows. Although productions are more sporadic now, the group still continues to perform in each other's work and collaborate on internet sketch comedy and music.
